To assess exercise tolerance and lung conditions, a six minute walk test is done. This test is well standardized with good predictive value of the lung health status.
Beyond lung health, the 6MWT is also utilized in cardiovascular assessments, post-surgical evaluations, and as part of rehabilitation programs for various health conditions due to its simplicity, reproducibility, and direct relation to activities of daily living.
