What is a Lung Function Test?

(Spirometry before and after bronchodilators)

To detect and quantify lung conditions, a standardized test where the patient blows through a pipe is done.

What are common lung function tests?

Spirometry

Measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, as well as how fast you can exhale.

Pulse Oximetry

A non-invasive method to measure the oxygen saturation in your blood.

Plethysmography

Measures the total amount of air your lungs can hold (total lung capacity, TLC) by having you sit in an airtight box.

Pulse Oximetry

Measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, as well as how fast you can exhale.
